BADMINTON´S CURIOSITIES


Speed: Badminton is racquet sport the world's fastest since the shuttlecock can reach the incredible speed of about 300 Kmph.
Physical condition: the high speed that takes the shuttlecock requires professional player to have great reflexes. But this is not all, a player must have, in addition, great physical condition through an average distance of 1, 5 Km.
Shuttlecock:: A shuttlecock weighs between 4.74 and 5.50 g. and is composed of 16 feathers.
The speed of the shuttlecock varies in different regions of the planet. Environmental factors such as humidity and temperature make the shuttlecock to fly faster or slow. If fold inwards, the shuttlecock will fly faster while doing outward, it will fly more slowly.


The greater shuttlecock of the world is located in the gardens of the Kansas City Museum. It is 48 times larger than normal!



Injuries: Badminton is a little dangerous sport. However players can suffer serious visual injuries because of the speed which takes the shuttlecock. In this sense, the use of protective goggles is recommended.

147 countries, including Spain, are members of the I.B.F. (International Badminton Federation).
Competitions: The "Thomas Cup" is the men's World Championship. It has been won only by 3 countries since it began in 1948: Malaysia, Indonesia and China.The "Uber Cup" is the women's .
